You just said yourself that you had spent hrs trying to farm the recipe You could have farmed enough gold in that time to buy it or to put together the mats to have it made. Some may have gotten lucky to have this recipe drop early, but, for some of us, we work for a very long time.

Maybe, some of us would like to get a return for that time - instead of giving it away for nearly nothing. If someone doesn't want to farm the recipe or the materials to get this made, then pay the auction house premium - that's a normal business model - not greed. Sandstone Drake. Two passenger flying mount. You actually transform into a dragon that has nobody sitting on your back, and can fly around that way or offer someone in your group a ride on your back.

Don't have to be an Alchemist to become a dragon. Do have to be an Alchemist and an Archaeologist to make a vial. Don't have to own one to ride on someone else. Gives an achievement to have it: Vial of the Sands. Alchemists Only Get to at least Archaeology , and Alchemy. Alchemists Only Continue to do Archaelogy on the Kalimdor continent, specifically Tol'vir digsites if possible, until you get Canopic Jar. Good luck! Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as necessary. While it is possible for the recipe to appear even if you are not yet at Alchemy, it will only appear to Alchemists of a certain level of skill; so I recommend staying on the safe side and getting to Alchemy first.

You'll need it anyway to actually learn the recipe! Hopefully you can figure out how to do this on your own. Save up gold or the following items: Pyrium-Laced Crystalline Vial will cost gold. These mats can only be bought from Yasmin in the far northwest of Uldum.

Obviously, don't buy them for more than the listed price. The mats from Steps 4 and 5 will be used to make the vial. If you are not an Alchemist, you will need to find one that has completed Step 3 and you'll have to give them the mats to make it. No other forms of discounts are currently known. If you do not have this perk, you can check the Auction House to see if someone who does is selling at a discount.

Since it could potentially save you money, why not check? In order for them to confirm it was a scam, make sure the entire transaction is negotiated using in-game text chat so the GM can read the chat log and confirm that you have been scammed.

This 'scam protection' is provided for all forms of scams, including the 'give you the mats to make an item and you keep them and give me nothing' scam, as scamming is against the ToS!

I recommend, for Alchemists making this for yourself, after you make your first one, check your realm to see if there's anyone willing to buy this for extremely high prices like, 60k or higher, perhaps even 80k. If you get enough profit, make another one and attempt to sell it. Keep going until you don't get any buyers for awhile, making and selling one by one, and then if you go a long time and can't sell your current one for a profit, THEN learn it yourself.

Patch 4. This is probably one of the best ways of transfering gold between servers. Keeping it in your inventory won't work. If you take the hat off, you will become a Sandstone Drake on top of another Sandstone Drake. People can also ride you while in this state, and can even use a Potion of Illusion and you have two Sandstone Drakes on top of one. I'm guessing not but you never know. Comment by FartGarfunkel I really wish the mats wouldn't cost all the money I gained from level 1. Comment by I won't do it for less than 2k. For starters, as mentioned, this requires maxed Alchemy and more Archaeology than anyone should ever do.

It's could literally take hundreds of hours. But most importantly, getting the mats requires almost no work whatsoever and only goes to take profits away from the people crafting them. Server economies will vary, but on mine: -Truegolds cost about the same to craft as they cost on the AH -The flasks costs less than they cost to craft based on AH prices for herbs -The rest of the items are vendor fodder.

So, I spend hundreds of hours getting the skill levels and the recipe. The customer spends some cash in the AH and flies all the way to a vendor in the upper left hand corner of Uldum. Or, a customer can go run the errands for 5 minutes and I stand to get nothing? Edit: If you're downrating this, then you're either not reading it or you haven't spent the countless hours farming the recipe. The only hard part of getting this mount is the recipe and the person getting it should be compensated for it.

Hundreds of hours is not an exaggeration. It's the average. Someone getting their own mats for it and expecting someone to do the combine for them is almost an insult. AFTER getting maxxed Alchemy and Archaeology, with the fastest flying mount, you can expect to spend roughly 20 hours of straight Archaeology to get each canopic jar. Each jar has a 10 percent chance to drop the recipe if you have alchemy.

That's pretty much the reason I started farming was because I read about how some people manage to get it fairly quickly but trust me, you probably won't I've read quite alot of accounts of people that have farmed longer than I have to get it Screw that!

I was actually getting ready to give up when it finally looted. Which may seem ok on the face of things but when you factor in time flying between dig sites trust me, you'll be flying from uldum up to around ashenvale and back ALOT , the location of the actual digsites most of mine ended up being in ashenvale, winterspring, azshara and feralas and the fact that each puzzle you recieve itself is random and THEN the chance of actually getting the item itself I blasted through the whole of Farscape and Stargate Atlantis whilst farming for this damn thing!

Also, as a druid it was a massive advantage having my teleport to moonglade as i started up north and rinsed through the digsites heading south and then ported back up to moongland to repeat the process. If you're lucky you should be able to push most of the digsites down south and end up with at least 2 or 3 in uldum when you reach there. There's also that item from caverns of time which teleports you to tanaris but I didn't really use it all that much as my method with being a druid worked quite well.

All in all I'd say that it's worth it. At least you can sell this mount or charge to craft it which makes it a nice little earner as well as looking awesome. So to anyone out there who thinks this is an overpriced item, think again. The person who created it has spent some serious money, not to mention countless hours just to get the ability to make it. So they deserve more respect and understanding when it comes to this potion. Blizzard made it so that this was supposed to be a huge money sink so that is or when you get it you are not one of a million others on your server who has it.

People are less willing to pay top dollar and more are willing to farm out the mats themselves to pass time. How often do you need or even have the opportunity to ferry people distances by sky? Auto-FP learning has also sapped even more usefulness out. The logic of "must charge big tip" goes something like this: 1.

I spent hours getting this recipe! This clown wants me to use this recipe on his mats. This clown shouldn't benefit from my hard work unless I get a fair compensation. Thus far, the logic is sound. But now comes the fourth step: 4. This clown should pay me for the time I spent. This does not necessarily follow. You can use the recipe as often as you like, without any significant cost, as long as you have an adequate supply of materials.

Using the recipe once does not in any way impair your ability to use it again. Are you hoping to be compensated, by each buyer, for the hours you spent?

If so, good luck, because no one can offer you a fair price for that time. A better way to think about it might be this: how many times will you use the recipe? Let's say you feel that you should get at least k for those hours. If you figure to use it five times, then you can spread the cost of your hours across five people, and charge them each 40k - which is more than the cost of the mats. Still unlikely. If you figure to use the recipe fifty times, you could charge them each 4k, which is at least plausible - someone who has the resources to gather up the mats can probably scare up 4k more for your service.

Notice that lowering the price increases the likelihood that someone will pay. This is called the Demand Curve: the cheaper something is, the more people will buy it. Economics In the really real world, the Demand Curve is offset by the Supply Curve, which moves in the other direction - because the more money you can make doing this, the more likely you are to do it. In the really real world, the shape of the Supply Curve is informed by the cost of performing the service Your hours are spent, and that's that, whether you make one Vial or a hundred Vials.

You have to set your price at a point where people will actually pay it, or else you won't make any money. Maybe there's someone out there who will pay you 40k, but I doubt it. There's probably a few who would pay 4k. There's probably more than twice as many who would pay 2k. Obviously, there's a bottom to this curve because there are only so many people who can afford the materials at all; besides, if you give it away for free, you won't make any money no matter how many Vials you make.

On the other hand, you'll never make any money, at all, unless you're the cheapest option available at least at the moment you're online. What you have to decide is how little you're willing to accept. The amount of time you spent does not matter.

The value you attach to your time does not matter. The factors that matter are outside your control - your server's population and wealth statistics, the number of other alchemists that have the recipe, and how much they value their time investment.

The Magnatized Scrap Collector cannot be used outside the designated quest area.
